Mario first made his appearance all the way back in 1985 on the Nintendo Entertainment System or NES for short. This enamel Mario pin is actually based on that very first Super Mario Bros game. You will recognise the same pixel layout but a different colour base. As the pixel colours in that first game were not as vibrant as the later Super Mario games.
Super Mario is the fourth best selling video game series ever racking up over 330 million sold copies at this time in early 2021. The Italian plumber is undoubtedly one of the most recognisable video game characters ever created, up there with the likes of Pac-Man and Donkey Kong.
